OLTCA Day of Engagement
TweetHomes across Extendicare’s network were pleased to participate in the Ontario Long-Term Care Association’s (OLTCA) first Community Day of Engagement on September 13, 2024. Residents and team members across the province welcomed their local MPPs, MPs, and Mayors for an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible work that goes on in long-term care homes every day.
Extendicare Port Hope was excited to host Mayor Olena Hankivsky for a tour and meet-and-greet with residents. Mayor Hankivsky spoke with residents and team members to learn more about their experiences in long-term care.
Sudbury MPP Jamie West had breakfast with residents at Extendicare Countryside and tried some popular dietary accommodations for residents, including pureed foods. CTV News was also on hand to highlight the visit and speak with residents and team members about how they are enjoying their brand-new home.
At Wyndham Manor Long-Term Care Centre, a home managed by Extendicare Assist, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and MPP Stephen Crawford stopped by for a tour followed by coffee and tea with members of the resident council and leaders from the home.
The enthusiasm to visit our homes continued in the weeks that followed. MPP Andrew Dowie stopped by Extendicare Tecumseh and joined residents and team members in celebrating the home’s 21st anniversary. MPP Dowie met with the president of the family council and took a stroll through the farmers market that the home set up as part of the celebration.
A special thank you to all of the homes that participated, as well as the government partners that helped us mark this special occasion. Extendicare also appreciates OLTCA’s efforts to coordinate this initiative.
